Whiteside Theatre Foundation
The Whiteside Theatre Foundation supports a multi-purpose entertainment and events venue in the restored historic Whiteside Theatre that enhances economic vitality and cultural diversity of downtown Corvallis for the benefit of the entire community.
The Whiteside Theatre was built during a time of economic prosperity and growth in our history. It is an important part of our shared heritage. Its restoration will provide our community the opportunity to continue to view movies on the big screen in a real movie palace, and will allow all of us to step back in time, if only briefly, to a period of architectural opulence.
Brothers Samuel and George Whiteside were pioneers in the movie industry in Corvallis and operated seven theatres in the area. They built both the more intimate Majestic Theatre, used primarily for live theatre productions, as well as the larger, more resplendent movie-palace style Whiteside Theatre. The Whiteside Theatre Foundation looks forward to continuing this cooperative relationship among all downtown theatres to foster a vibrant entertainment district that attracts more people to downtown Corvallis. We envision the Whiteside, Darkside, and Majestic Theatres as key anchors of this entertainment triangle.
Download the Whiteside Theatre brochure (pdf) for a brief summary of the theatre's history and current efforts of the Whiteside Theatre Foundation to rehabilitate and restore the theatre.
